Title translates to – THE DENDROLITES IN RELATION TO THEIR INNER STRUCTURE — Dendrites are fossil plants or plant fragments. Ppublished by the famous palaeontologist and geologist Carl Bernhard von Cotta (1808-1879). First published in 1832, this is the second printing. Paper covered boards measuring about 8 3/4 by 10 3/8 inches, 89 pages, published in Leipzig, text in German. Spine repaired with green masking tape, book block broken in several places, but could be re-sewn if desired. What is important are the 20 lithographed plates, one of which, the frontis, is hand-coloured. All plates present, however exhibit some foxing.
I saw a copy sold in Germany in December 2020 for $550, currently a copy is available in the Netherlands for over $500. My copy priced lower (just over $16 per plate) due to the binding and foxing, and sold “with all faults.”
