Linwood Park, established in 1884, on the Shores of Lake Erie in Vermilion, Ohio, was a part of my life for a number of years. In the early 1980s, as the park was approaching its centennial, I began a project to document the history of the park. The resulting book, THROUGH THESE GATES: LINWOOD PARK, was published in 1984 for the park’s centennial celebration. In the process, to illustrate the book, I collected souvenirs, photographs and postcards of the Park, Vermilion, and Crystal Beach Park. eBay started in September 1995, and when I learned of eBay a few years later I was able to purchase many more Linwood Park items I had not seen before and wish I had had for the book. Someday I may sell my entire postcard collection, but for now wish to share the duplicates I have, including these postcards grouped in lots below.

LINWOOD PARK GROVE / SOUVENIR STAND – VERMILION, OHIO
Three Uncommon Cards – $25
Offered as a lot are these views of the Linwood Park Grove that are not often seen.
Top card is an undivided back with message blank on front and was mailed in 1906. It shows paths through the Grove and benches, and visible behind the trees is the souvenir stand – a building that originally was on the beach, but moved up. Below that is a close of of the same building – Wahl’s Souvenir Stand – note the signs saying “Souvenir Postal Cards” – Wahl published many cards of the park that were produced in Germany – yes damage to this card, but the image still great and another hard card to find. The third card is printed in all green and was mailed in 1908. Again, uncommon, and shows the Dining Hall which is seldom seen in images – this would be looking to the west. A nice lot to add to your collection.

HOTEL LINWOOD – LINWOOD PARK, VERMILION, OHIO – Three Postcards – $15

All I have found on the group is an announcement for the convention from August 1-7, 1938, in the “Baptist Herald” published in Cleveland by the German Baptist Publication Society. Both of these cards were mailed from Vermilion during the convention week.
I also have an attendee’s souvenir badge from the 1907 convention. It is on my park “souvenir” page.

VERMILION, OHIO 7 MATTED POSTCARDS
FROM THE LINWOOD PARK CENTENNIAL – $30
Established on the shores of Lake Erie in 1884, Linwood Park celebrated its 100th anniversary in 1984. A full summer’s festivities occurred, and a number of souvenirs were sold for the celebration. From my massive post card collection I selected a good many duplicate cards of Vermilion, and the park, which were sold in the centennial gift shop. I just located some remaining unsold matted cards. This lot has seven cards of the town itself or views in the Vermilion Lagoons.
I created the back of each mat to indicate all the details found on each postcard, and included a line stating: 1884 — LINWOOD PARK CENTENNIAL — 1984
Now after having been put away for 40 years it is time for these to head back to Ohio to make a nice grouping on someone’s wall in Linwood Park, The Vermilion Lagoons, or Vermilion proper.
The cards in this lot include: Night View of Liberty Street Looking East; Liedheiser’s Restaurant; The New 312,000 Gallon Capacity Water Sphere; GREETING’S montage; Busy Day on the Lagoons; Club House and Residences of Vermilion Lagoons; and, Vermilion Boat Club.
