ORIGINAL FISH and BIRD CHROMOLITHOGRAPHIC PRINTS – SHERMAN F. DENTON – FOR SALE

Another discovery from storage in my bookshop. Over 25 years ago I purchased and put away over 80 chromolithographs of fish, lobsters and birds by Sherman F. Denton, John L. Ridgeway, Louis Agassiz Fuertes and Oliver Kemp. Time now to find new homes, and walls to be appreciated by many. I am now beginning again (December 2021) to work with these to share and offer here on my website.

Sherman Foote Denton (1856-1937) is best known for his illustrations for the U.S. Fish Commission (later the United States Fish and Wildlife Service) and the Forest, Fish and Game Commission of New York State. Offered are original loose plates (never bound in a book) that would have been from one of the separate portfolios of prints published from 1895 to about 1910.

The colors of these chromoliths are spectacular. The overall dimensions of each plate are about 9 5/8 inches by 12 inches. Anything other than a minor corner bump that will be matted out, I will note a rare flaw. You may click on any plate below for a larger view. My scanner bed is smaller than the plates, thus not all of the white bottom is illustrated. And, my name tag is only laid on the scanner bed, not part of actual plate. I will be adding pricing information soonest, multiple purchases will be bundled with a discount. $6 shipping for one or more plates since plates will be securely packaged in cardboard, and mailed with tracking information.
