1998 – SAINT-PETERSBURG HISTORY OF THE CITY
in PRESENTATION WOODEN OAK BOX
Making this unique from any other copy I have seen is the handsome oak presentation box the book is housed in and lined in red felt. On the cover of the wooden box is what appears to be a about a 2 3/4 bronze medallion – based upon my research (hopefully correct) the design is a version of the coat of arms approved July 24, 1882, during the reign of Emperor Alexander III. This modern version of this medal was struck in the 1990s by the Leningrad (now Saint Petersburg) Mint as part of a series featuring the coats of arms of Russian cities and provinces.
Box measures about 11 x 14 x 3 5/8 inches – book about 8 3/4 x 11 1/2 x 1 1/2 – overall weight ten pounds. This book presents an objective, historical view dividing the city into three centuries — the era of its infancy, of its maturity, and the century of its stately present. Includes a special section with a brief historical account of the city’s five suburban gems.

there appears to be a faint couple water marks on the top, probably from a wet glass
