MID-CENTURY SET of 4 SAMSONITE FOLDING METAL CHAIRS – PADDED SEATS AND BACKS

MID-CENTURY SET of 4 SAMSONITE FOLDING METAL CHAIRS – PADDED SEATS AND BACKS

I purchased this set at an estate sale in 1990 for use in my bookshop. I have now not used them in over 20 years. They have some scuffs and light wear, but the fabric is intact, and nice. The labels on the underneath are pre-zip code days (July 1, 1963), and since the family had been in the home, as I remember for decades, they were probably the original owners purchasing these in the 1950s – yes Vintage Mid-Century. Made by Shwayder Bros., this is Style No. 6833.

1908 – PACKARD “THIRTY” – A MOTOR CAR CATALOGUE – ORIGINAL SALES BOOKLET

1908 – PACKARD “THIRTY” – A MOTOR CAR CATALOGUE – ORIGINAL SALES BOOKLET / BROCHURE / SHOWROOM PROMOTION

PACKARD MOTOR CAR COMPANY – DETROIT, MICHIGAN

Yes, an original showroom booklet for the Packard “Thirty” 1908. Softcover with 28 pages measuring about 8 1/4 inches by 10 7/8 inches.  Starts with a color plate of the Packard “Thirty” 1908 Touring Car, and there are six additional almost full page drawings of car models for the year, along with mechanical drawings in the section “Described.”

I have had this catalog since 1957, and am the second owner. In 1957 I was on THE GIANT STEP, a TV show with the host, Bert Parks. My subject on this quiz show was “antique cars.” I received tons of fan mail, and gifts, one of which was this catalog from the original owner. He also sent me a glass cutter with a horseshoe nail attached. That nail punctured a tire on his 1908 Packard. I have that somewhere still. But time for the catalogue to find a new home. Enjoy, and take care of it, thank you, RAY

VINTAGE CAMPER “CANNED HAM” — 1963 era SHASTA COMPACT — WANTED

Search done 20 November 2020 — slight shift, but I now own an original 1965 17’ Caravel Airstream Land Yacht Twin built in Santa Fe , California. Click on this link, if you wish, for the story and images – thank you, RAY

I am on a quest, and you have found this page because you also are on a quest, or you have an offer for me. I am a serious cash buyer looking forward to plan some adventures in 2021. My ideal acquisition will be original, or renovated to its original appearance, and safe mechanically. Preferably I would like to find something in the New England States, but open to consider moving my “new friend – yet to be named” to New Hampshire from elsewhere.

Also happy to consider a comparable 13 foot (10 foot body) such as a Garway, Scotty, etc. Tell me what you have.

Email me for a start: rayboas@comcast.net  — I do not text. I am old fashion, why else would I want a “Canned Ham” to go with my 1958 TR3A (BLACK BEAUTY) and 1960 MGA (BLUE BELLE)? But, my landline is – 603 756-4545 – if you prefer, send me a note “Leaving a Reply” below.

So, here is what I want. The below Glamper is currently in Massachusetts, and part of a museum. This is what I want, note the original interior.

this similar beauty I found on-line for sale, but the owner has not answered any of my emails. Did I say I am an email person?

You may enjoy seeing this “Canned Ham” adventure I had in 2018. CLICK ON THIS LINK and you will join me.

Hope to hear from you soon — I promise to take care of your “love” and serve as its next “conservator.” Thank you, RAY

PAIR 1930s TRIPPE SAFETY LIGHTS “SPEEDLIGHT” – 8 1/2 Inch Diameter

A pair of Trippe Safety Lights, marked SPEEDLIGHT on the lens. The inside emblem does not have a car name on it, thus this after market 1930s – 1940s accessory could be mounted on any appropriate vehicle with the proper arm mounts. This pair was on my 1929 Model A Ford Roadster when I purchased it, but I felt they just did not look proper. Mounted on the front bumper brackets coming from the frame, the lamps were never wired into the car’s electrical system. Depth of the lamps is about 4 3/4 inches, and diameter about 8 1/2 inches.

Found on larger cars usually such as Packards, Auburn; LaSalle, or Pierce-Arrow, these lamps would make a nice addition to most any antique automobile.

and, the last two images show how they were mounted on my Model A Ford when I purchased it.

1996 – COCA-COLA POP-UP BOOK SANTA CLAUS

1996 – COCA-COLA POP-UP BOOK
SANTA CLAUS IS COMIN’ TO TOWN
SPECIAL EDITION

A new copy of this unique cross-over collectible that will go nicely in your Coke collection, Christmas collection, Santa Claus collection, Pop-Up book collection, etc. Published in 1996 by the Coca-Cola Company, this book has six pop-ups as the words to the song are displayed. No faults, never read, and opened up only to take these images for your pleasure.

It was overcast with the sun setting as I took these images, thus there is a blue tinge on the left, and the colors are not as fantastically bright as you will see when your children’s pop-up classic arrives. You will not be disappointed

AND, Santa is holding his Coke bottle in every pop-up

Following are images of the front cover, all pop-ups, and the rear cover.

1950 – RUDOLPH THE RED-NOSED REINDEER: THE COMPLETE STORY WITH POP-UP ACTION PICTURES

by Robert L. May, Maxton Publishers, New York, produced by Spring House, Springfield, Mass. First copyrighted in 1939. Five pop-up sections each separated with two pages of text for the story. A few of the cut-out lines for the pop-ups are tight and as a result they have some weakness and folds, and may not operate as they should without help. Still and uncommon item, and fun for your holiday season.

the first pop up – Rudolph needs help to stand up

spiral binding – some of the combing is out of place (typical)

1965 – THE FUGS’ SONGBOOK – UNHEARD OF FIRST EDITION – A SCARCE FIND

1965 – THE FUGS’ SONGBOOK – UNHEARD OF FIRST EDITION – A SCARCE FIND

Prepared by Ed Sanders, Ken Weaver, & Betsy Klein at the evil PEACE EYE BOOKSTORE in New York City. 8 1/2 by 11 inches side-stapled mimeographed sheets, the Fugs’ Songbook is from the counterculture NYC band founded in 1964. This First Edition consists of two preliminary pages followed by 27 numbered pages, all on different color sheets. The Fugs were a political satire band active through the early to mid-1960’s. Formed by Ed Sanders and Tuli Kupferberg, their namesake was taken from a euphemism for “f–k” used in Norman Mailer’s novel, The Naked and The Dead. Sanders produced this book of Fugs’ lyrics through his small edition press out of the Lower East Side in New York. The Fugs included: Ed Sanders, Tuli Kupferberg, Ken Weaver, Betsy Klein, Steve Weber, Peter Stampfel, Vinny Leary and Moe Mahoney.

Later editions in 1965, 1966, 1967 were published by: The Sexual Freedom League of San Francisco (second edition);  Artists’ Workshop Press, Detroit (1966 and 67). This copy has faults as seen below, but this is a fragile ephemeral item.

The front cover has a glass ring stain, pencil drawing on the right corner portion, some staining, and owner’s name.

following are some sample two page spreads

per the contents page, the issue is complete, but the last page (page 27) is loose as shown below. If there was a rear cover following this last page, I do not know, sorry.

Bumps at the top and bottom of the spine, and some paper loss on the edges of the front cover. Not so on the rear cover, which is the same illustration, if you wanted to display the cover in your collection.
